Safiyya Sarkin from Women Beyond Survival was an invited speaker at a Rally on March 2, 2008 in front of the UN for the plight of the Darfurian women and children suffering in the refugee camps in Eastern Chad and the IDP camps in Darfur.

An evening of visual and performance art to raise awareness and funds for the innocent victims of the on going genocide in Darfur.
There was an opening reception and silent auction of paintings, photographs, sculpture and works on paper donated by contemporary visual artists: Pamella Allen, Andrea Lieberman, D. Lammie-Hanson, Erika Ranee, Kathleen Hayek, DeAngela Napier, Danny Simmons, Ramona Candy, Amina Ahmed, Gabriel Rueda Pacheco, Erez Sabag, Kessis Baptiste, Jay Tibari and Herbert Bennet.
Musical Performances by Brooklyn based artists Mind Thirst, Neycha and Ras I Culture with the debut of original songs: "Child of War, and I am a Refugee".
